Surfing Guide
How to Surf in CS2
Surfing is a unique movement style in Counter-Strike where you glide along angled surfaces (ramps) to gain speed and momentum.
Basic Surfing
Getting Started
- Approach a ramp at a slight angle
- Hold the strafe key opposite to the ramp direction:
- If the ramp is on your LEFT, hold D (strafe right)
- If the ramp is on your RIGHT, hold A (strafe left)
- Move your mouse in the direction you're strafing
- DON'T hold W - this will slow you down
The Golden Rule
Never hold W while surfing! Only use A and D for strafing.
Air Strafing
Air strafing helps you gain speed and control while in the air.
- Release all keys when leaving a ramp
- Hold A and move mouse LEFT to turn left
- Hold D and move mouse RIGHT to turn right
- Smooth, synchronized movements = more speed
Surf Combat Tips
Since this is a combat surf server, you'll be fighting while surfing:
Combat Movement
- Use ramps for cover and unpredictable movement
- The scout has perfect accuracy while airborne
- Knife fights on ramps require good timing
Using Your Skills
- Speed skill helps you escape dangerous situations
- Jump Boost gives you more options for routes
- Cushion prevents damage when you miss landings
Common Mistakes
- Holding W - Kills your speed instantly
- Mouse too fast - Smooth movements work better
- Wrong strafe key - Remember: opposite to the ramp
- Looking down - Keep your crosshair up for combat
Practice Tips
- Start with gentle ramps before steep ones
- Focus on staying on the ramp before going for speed
- Learn the maps - each has optimal routes
- Watch experienced surfers and learn their lines
Server Settings
Our server has optimized surf physics:
- High air acceleration for smooth turns
- No stamina penalty for landings
- Good velocity limits for speed surfing
Pro tip: The best surfers combine smooth movement with good aim. Practice both!
